In part 1 of our series we covered the fundamentals in establishing that there are two different plants: the industrial hemp plant and the marijuana plant.
I often hear people say “I don’t need CBD, I get the real thing.”I would like to take this time to bring to light the differences and similarities between these two plants; in essence: CBD vs THC. We put them side by side so you can easily see for yourself!
Comes from Hemp Plant
The Hemp plant is a member of the Cannabis Sativa family, and produces the non-psychoactive compound, CBD.
Non-Psychoactive
Non-psychoactive means that CBD does not contain a compound that causes an effect on the mind or bodily motor functions.
Contains Health Benefits
Attaching to receptors in the Endocannabinoid system, CBD promotes homeostasis (the body’s ability to maintain stability in its various functional systems). This can help with various health conditions, such as pain, inflammation, nausea, and sleep disorders. It can also alleviate cancer related symptoms, help treat seizures, reduce the risk of diabetes, and helps maintain brain function.
Has No Negative Side Effects
CBD does not cause any negative side effects
Is Currently Legal Throughout The US
The non-psychoactive compound in the Cannabis plant, CBD, is now legal in all 50 states, which means anyone of any age can reap the amazing benefits it has to offer! Click below to read more about Trump’s recently passed Farm Bill, which legalized hemp across the US!
FARM BILL PASSED!
Comes from Marijuana Plant
The Marijuana plant is a member of the Cannabis Sativa family and has two primary classifications: indica and sativa, which contain the psychoactive compound, THC
Psychoactive
Psychoactive means that the compound can affect the mind and bodily motor functions.
Contains Health Benefits
Attaching to receptors in the Endocannabinoid system, THC promotes homeostasis (the body’s ability to maintain stability in its various functional systems). This can help with various health conditions, such as pain, inflammation, nausea, and sleep disorders. It can also aid in increasing appetite.
Has Some Negative Side Effects
THC can produce side effects such as increased heart rate, anxiety, lethargy, memory loss, dry mouth, and when used in excess by adolescents can increase the risk of some psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia.
Is Not Yet Legal Throughout US
Though THC is medically legal in many states, and recreationally legal in a few, it is still majorly illegal for use in the United States, making purchase, sale, or use of it dangerous. Click below to watch a video from Kannaway about CBD vs THC!

As you can see, CBD from the hemp plant has many, if not more, health benefits without causing extreme side effects that come from THC. This is important for young children, the elderly, people with mental disorders, those who get drug tested, etc.
Thanks to advances in medical research, increased public knowledge, and new legislative laws, we are finally able to experience the true benefits of CBD oils in the United States!
Everyone can benefit from the health benefits of CBD from the Hemp plant, even regular THC users. In the next part of our CBD series we will be explaining the endocannabinoid system (endo what?!), its relation to CBDs and why getting CBDs are important, even for those who already use marijuana.
